Burbine kiddie porn probe may widen if feds eye computer files

Posted: Updated:

FOX UNDERCOVER - Federal child porn investigators are offering to help examine John Burbine's computer files to see if he shared with other pedophiles around the world what prosecutors describe as a sick stash of homemade child porn.

Investigators with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement who specialize in tracking down child pornographers stand ready to help follow any electronic trail they find, and a spokesperson for the Middlesex District Attorney's office tells FOX Undercover's Mike Beaudet that they may take the feds up on their offer.

Burbine is accused not only of sexually abusing 13 infants and children in their homes but also of taking photographs and videos of his victims in various states of nudity and engaged in sexual acts.

Experts tell FOX Undercover that child pornographers are usually eager to share their twisted conquests with like-minded pedophiles, and ICE investigators have already busted a worldwide kiddy porn distribution ring that started locally with Robert Diduca of Milford.

Diduca pleaded guilty to child porn charges earlier this year and is serving 18 years in prison. His case resulted in 60 arrests across the globe and 159 children being rescued.

The Middlesex DA's office, which is prosecuting Burbine, says they have no evidence yet of sharing but the investigation is ongoing.

The news that the investigation may widen comes as FOX Undercover has also learned new information about Burbine's wife Marian. She is charged with recklessly endangering children and operating an unlicensed day care business.

FOX Undercover found that Marian Burbine actually filed for a divorce in late 2009, writing in her application for a divorce that an "irretrievable breakdown" of the marriage occurred in April 2009.

That's the same month when she learned of her husband's sex offender past, according to court records.

By the time she filed for divorce later that year in December, Marian Burbine had stopped living with her husband in Wakefield and was living with her parents in Maine.

John Burbine did not oppose his wife's request for a divorce, saying in court papers, he only wanted to split up their assets fairly.

But for some reason not spelled out in their divorce file, Marian Burbine changed her mind and asked to the court to dismiss her divorce complaint. Divorce attorneys representing Marian and John Burbine did not return calls for comment.

The abuse Burbine is now accused of committing allegedly happened after that, from August 2010 through this past August.
