WALTHAM (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 68-year-old female was seriously injured on Sunday night after reportedly being struck by a hit-and-run driver on High Street.

Police in Waltham responded to the pedestrian accident at the corner of High Street and Stearns Street around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday.

The female had been walking in the roadway on High Street beside the sidewalk pushing a shopping carriage when she was struck from behind. The car struck the victim and the carriage then fled the scene, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle wanted in connection with the crash should have passenger side damage and a missing passenger side mirror. Based on evidence gathered at the scene, the car is most likely blue.

Anyone with information regarding the accident or the vehicle is asked to contact the Waltham Police Department at 781-314-3600.
