Motor City NYE is proud to present, for its third year, "The Drop" this New Year's Eve, December 31, 2012 at the Compuware Atrium and Hard Rock Café. Supported by and comprised of returning organization and promotions members from previous years, the 2013 edition of the festive and fantastic event will feature award-winning cuisine, outstanding musical entertainment and - yet again - a technological marvel to behold in true Detroit spirit to be lowered at midnight in celebration of a new year.
"As we go into our third year, our guests can continue to expect an experience un-rivaled in Michigan. 'The Drop' has always been about the community and ultimately offering the region a proper New Year's Eve celebration," says event organizer Jerrid Mooney. "We are insanely focused on producing a bigger and better event this year and I'm pleased to announce that we are on-track to do just that."
Erik and Israel Nordin, the multi-talented brothers behind the creation of the Detroit Design Center, have agreed to conceptualize and create this year's art piece that will both symbolically and literally descend upon the city during the countdown - something that can be witnessed from both near and far. "Our guests of course can choose to be a part of the premier VIP Gala inside the elegant atrium of Compuware or they can join us outside at Campus Martius and help us bring in the New Year with the community at large," says Mooney.
In addition, musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Tom T, DJ Bruce Bailey, DJ Vin and more - keeping the joyous and celebratory crowd moving and enjoying themselves until well after the new year has been rung in. Food will be catered by The Whitney and their talented culinary staff, plus complimentary cocktails throughout the evening.
Finally, and in the holiday spirit of giving and true celebration of community - something that is so undeniably Detroit and the essence of the Motor City - attendees are encouraged to bring a brand new fresh pair of mittens to the event for Mittens For Detroit.
"At the end of the day, we seek to be a part of Detroit's new history and to close the loop for the holiday season in Downtown Detroit. We have an excellent tradition, or a beginning bookend as I like to say, for the holiday season starting with America's Thanksgiving Parade. 'The Drop' has been designed to be that other positive bookend to the holiday season and to offer up a new tradition for all of our shared aspirations and the collective optimism for our future as we celebrate the coming New Year," Mooney further explains.
Motor City New Year's Eve is the epicenter and intersection of where culture, ideology and passion for the deeply beloved city of Detroit meet. These area and regional supporters continue to be cheerleaders, pioneers and activists during the times in which the Motor City is pulling itself up by its bootstraps continue to feel the need to help organize, promote and build a true New Year's Eve celebration from the ground up in a city that both appreciates and deserves a true party. And what way to better symbolize the welcoming of new times, a new era and - literally - a new year than with a true Motor City New Year?
While the event is 21 and over, beginning at 9 p.m. and running until 4 a.m., all ages are welcome outside to experience the festivities at midnight. Single tickets start at $100 with VIP Cabanas starting at $160 per person. Tickets to this extraordinary event are currently available at www.motorcitynye.com.
