HAVERHILL (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Officials are investigating the death of a worker who fell from a tree on North Avenue in Haverhill.
A spokeswoman for the Essex District Attorney's office said the man, an employee of a tree removal company, was reportedly removing a tree that had sustained storm damage during Hurricane Sandy when he was killed Monday.
The victim was tied off on a limb, but the limb ended up being rotted and broke off the tree with the man still attached. The victim hit the ground, and the limb landed on top of him. He was transported to Lawrence General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 32-year-old male victim was a resident Hampton, N.H., but his name was not immediately released.
The investigation is ongoing.
