Club where Somerville fight broke out closed indefinitely

Posted: Updated:

SOMERVILLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The Somerville club where a melee broke out last week has lost its operating permit.

The Somerville mayor's office said after additional review of Night Games Lounge, it was determined that the club had several "life and safety" violations related to the building's emergency backup systems.

The club's operating license was suspended "indefinitely" and all future events have been canceled.

Over the weekend the club lost its occupancy license because of problems with an emergency lighting system.

Police said on Dec. 12 a fight broke out between 10 and 12 women in the club. Several hundred people were inside the club at the time.

Two women were arrested at the scene and charged with participating in an affray. One person was held for questioning.

While police were removing people from the club, another fight broke out at a nearby Hess Station. Shots were reportedly fired at that scene, but there is no word on whether or not anyone was injured.

It is unclear if the fight at the gas station and the hotel were related.
