The Massachusetts Department of Revenue has reportedly removed a tax lien against Lawrence Mayor William Lantigua.
The Boston Globe reports the Department of Revenue announced on Friday that it removed the $5,475 tax lien against the controversial mayor stemming from unpaid 2011 state income taxes.
The department typically removes liens when the amount owed is paid in full or they determine that the money wasn't owed.
Reports of the mayor's tax troubles broke just a week after Lantigua announced his plans to run for re-election.
