Tanker truck overturns on Nassau Expressway

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A stretch of the Nassau Expressway remained closed Wednesday following an accident involving a tanker fuel truck.

The tanker overturned at about 5 a.m. near Burnside Avenue on the Nassau Expressway and was still on its side Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters rushed to the scene.

SkyFoxHD was overhead where they could be seen dousing the truck with foam to prevent it from igniting.

It's not clear how much- if any- of the fuel had leaked onto the roadway.

The driver was reportedly injured.  There were no other reports of injuries or vehicles involved.

The Nassau Expressway was closed between Rockaway Turnpike and Broadway. Burnside Ave. was also closed near the incident.

Motorists should expect delays in the area.
