In an effort to help pet owners afford microchipping, the Dearborn Animal Shelter is offereing a $20 voucher through Saturday, Jan. 19. The animal shelter is reminding pet owners to be sure their pets have tag identification on pet collars while encouraging microchipping.
For pets that like to explore, microchipping is especially helpful. Cold winter temperatures pose a threat to pets, specifically dogs can lose their scent.
The $20 voucher can be redeemed at participating veterinary facilities. If done privately, the procedure normally costs $50.
The Dearborn animal shelter also has a cat available for adoption. Her name is Darla and she is a 3 year old brown mackeral tabby. Darla is litter box trained and gets along with other felines. The fee is only $25 and includes sterilization, vaccinations and a microchip.
For more information about Darla, visit www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24934421. For more information on the Dearborn Animal Shelter, visit www.dearbornanimals.org.
