NASHUA, N.H. – A New Hampshire man was arrested after police say he hit another man in the head with a frying pan.

Wayne Theriault, 25, of Nashua, was taken into custody Monday night and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, three counts of simple assault and resisting arrest. Theriault was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District Division.

According to police, Theriault was arguing with a 42-year-old man at a Chestnut Street apartment when he grabbed a metal frying pan and hit the man in the head with it. Police say he also pushed the man twice.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was treated for the head injury and later released.

Police said Theriault became aggressive toward officers as they tried to put him in a holding cell. Theriault allegedly assaulted one of them, and during a subsequent struggle, the officer suffered facial injuries that required stitches. The officer was treated at a local hospital and later released.
