Angela "Angie" Miller received three college scholarships for her singing ability. She decided to put off college in hopes of becoming a contestant on "American Idol."

FOX 25's Melissa Mahan was with 18-year-old Angie and her family at a viewing party Wednesday for her first appearance on the season 12 premiere of the hit FOX show.

The 18-year-old had kept a secret from her friends and family for months, but she was finally able to come clean during the show on Wednesday. Angie made it to Hollywood after amazing the judges.

Angie's loved ones aren't the only people rallying behind the teen. Beverly High Principal Sean Gallagher recorded an automated phone call to parents asking them to watch the teen on Wednesday night's show.

The teen's love for singing was fostered by her time in Beverly High's choir. Her former choral director tells FOX 25 that Angie always had one of those voices that "stood out."

FOX 25 will continue to follow Angie Miller as she tries to sing her way to the top. Stay with FOX 25 and MyFoxBoston.com for the latest on Angela's progress.
