Philadelphia's International Cycling Championship, known around town as "the Philly bike race" has been canceled for 2013.
The race has been held for the past 28 years and is considered a hallmark Spring event for the city.
Organizers say that the race could return in 2014 after some reorganization.
"We are disappointed that we must remove the race from the calendar in 2013, but we feel that we will be able to reorganize with new partners and make this the preeminent event the region deserves in 2014 and beyond," said David Chauner, a former Olympic cyclist and one of the creators of the event.

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy. It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms. Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.
This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
