Drunken NJ man's leg severed in NYC subway mishap

NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a 26-year-old New Jersey man had his leg severed when he drunkenly fell asleep next to the tracks under a New York City subway platform and was struck by a train.

It happened at the Woodside subway station in Queens at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the man from Elizabeth was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and is expected to survive. His name was not released.
