SPRINGFIELD,
Mass. (AP) — Hampden District Attorney Mark Mastroianni (mas-
tree-AHN'-ee) says there has been a significant development in the
22-year old unsolved slaying of a 90-year-old Springfield woman.
Myrtle Marrett was found beaten to death in her apartment in an elderly housing complex in January 1991.
Her body was found by a relative who went to check on her.
The district attorney tells The Republican newspaper (http://bit.ly/XTFOxl ) he will announce details of the development Tuesday morning.
Mastroianni
says the Marrett case was one of several his office identified that
could possibly benefit from new technological and scientific advances.
