PHILADELPHIA -

A fire chief tells FOX 29 one person died after a fire ripped through a three-story building along West Roosevelt Boulevard that served as a home for hospice care.

The fire sparked in a building on the 1300 block of West Roosevelt Boulevard Tuesday night in Hunting Park.

Firefighters say the victim was an elderly person.

According to firefighters at the scene, it doesn't appear the building had working smoke detectors.

SkyFOX flew over the scene around 9:30 p.m. as firefighters were working to put out flames from the roof.

FOX 29's Stephanie Salvatore reports properties on either side of the building where the fire sparked were not impacted.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
