Dozens of sheep killed in NJ barn fire

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Dozens of sheep died in a barn fire in Hunterdon County.

The fire started around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday in the structure off Everittstown Road in Alexandria Township.

State Trooper Anthony Wolcott tells The Star-Ledger of Newark the blaze, fueled by hay, quickly spread and engulfed the 48 sheep inside.

The fire remains under investigation but Wolcott says the cause does not appear to be suspicious.
