LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. -
Approximately 1,000 customers in the Borough of Coplay and a small section of Whitehall Township in Lehigh County could be without natural gas until Thursday morning after a service disruption.
According to UGI, the natural gas disruption impacted residents living in the area from the Lehigh River west to Ruch Street and Hokendauqua Street North to the area of Maple Street.
UGI says residents in Whitehall Township living in the area of the 3000 to 3400 block of North Second Street, the 3100 block of South Front Street through the 3400 block of North Front Street and from Ruch Street west to South 5th Avenue and Chestnut Street North to E. Columbia Street are also affected.
Although the issue was resolved, the company says the process of restoring service is time consuming and requires the company to turn off the gas at each individual home
affected by the disruption in order to restore the service.
A customer information center was scheduled to open to residents at 6 p.m. at the Coplay Municipal Building at 98 South 4th Street. UGI says staff at the Coplay Municipal Building are available to help the affected residents find temporary overnight lodging.
Customers with questions or in need of additional information can call UGI at 1-800-276-2722.
