Fire crews respond to Arlington 'T' stop for another cable issue

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The Green Line is back up and running, but the brutal cold could cause more service disruptions.

Service was suspended Wednesday night at the Arlington station after smoke filled the platform for the second time in just a few hours.

Wednesday morning, a cable malfunction at the same stop suspended Green Line service for two hours.

Thousands of commuters on the B, C and D lines were forced out into the cold and 1,500 underground passengers were escorted down tunnels to exits.

Boston's fire department says the cold weather weakened old cable systems, causing the smoke.

There are some delays on the D line already Thursday morning.
