PEABODY (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – An 87-year-old man who was struck by a car outside Saint Adelaide Parish in Peabody on Sunday has died.
Detective Michael Crane told Peabody Patch that Theodore Buttner, of Somerville, died at Mass. General Hospital in Boston a few after he was admitted.
Police said Buttner was walking in the crosswalk on Lowell Street when he was hit by the vehicle around 1 p.m. The operator of the vehicle, an 84-year-old Peabody man, stopped at the scene once he realized what had happened.
Crane told the Patch that a witness identified Buttner as a regular parishioner at the church.
Police did not say if any charges had been filed.
The investigation is ongoing.
