Teenager In Critical Condition, Mom Injured In Mobile Home Fire

Posted: Updated:
SALEM COUNTY, N.J. -

Fire devoured a Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey home injuring Nancy Rubio and her teenage daughter Cheyene Glasbrenner.

Cheyene suffered the worst injuries according to her sister. She's hooked up to a breathing tube and suffered burns to her hands and feet.

We're told her mother's  having trouble breathing.

"It's very sad," said neighbor Patty St. John.

Especially since the  fire at 13 Cedarwood Drive and the injuries it caused,  could have been prevented, neighbors said.

Family me members say they were moving soon and didn't have electricity.

"They stayed at my house a couple days last week to shower and eat," said friend and neighbor Dave Dean.

So they relied on the kindness of friends.

And used a charred propane-powered, portable,  stove to heat their home. It was among the burned debris in front of their home.

The family's actions put neighbors like Elsie Mc Laughlin in danger. The 77-year-old woman lives right next door. A friend forced her to evacuate.

Both fire victims are in the hospital. The teenager is in critical but stable condition.
