BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A Roxbury man, accused of biting and squeezing a 2-month-old boy, was arraigned on multiple charges in South Boston District Court on Monday.

Steven Velasquez, 19, is charged with four counts of assault and battery on a child causing injury and two counts of assault and battery for injuries a child received between Jan. 12 and Jan. 14, prosecutors said. Velasquez is also accused of punching the child's mother, a 21-year-old South Boston woman, in the face on Jan. 1.

A judge set Valasquez's bail at $50,500 and ordered him to stay away from the victims. The judge revoked his bail on an open case out of Boston Municipal Court in which he is charged with larceny from a person.

Police reportedly responded to the infant's home on Old Colony Avenue on Jan. 22 after being notified of the alleged abuse. The child was transported to Children's Hospital.

Prosecutors said the 2-month-old boy, who is related to Velasquez, had a broken rib, two bite marks on his right arm, and a third bite mark on the inner left leg when he arrived at the hospital.

Velasquez was arrested on Jan. 25 on a default warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court for violation of an abuse prevention order and assault and battery. He has previously faced charges of violating a restraining order.

Velasquez is scheduled to return to count on Feb. 19.
