Johnny Depp is reportedly going to portray reputed mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger on the big screen.
Deadline.com reports Depp will play Bulger in the film adaptation of "Black Mass."
The film is scheduled to start shooting in May.
This will not be Depp's first time exploring the criminal underworld. He was in classic mob film "Donnie Brasco" and more recently portrayed notorious bank robber John Dillinger in the film "Public Enemies."
Depp also is no stranger to portraying a real member of Boston's underworld. He played cocaine smuggler George Jung in the film "Blow." Jung, known as "Boston George," was from Weymouth.
