Driver accused of hitting, killing Wellesley bicyclist not charged

Posted: Updated:

WELLESLEY (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A grand jury failed to charge a driver accused of hitting and killing a 41-year-old bicyclist from Wellesley.

After a months-long investigation, officials sought complaints against the driver of an 18-wheeler that include motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, precautions for the safety of other travelers, and unsafe overtaking of a bicyclist.

On Monday, officials announced that a Norfolk County Grand Jury did not return a true bill on any of the charges and that the criminal investigation is now closed.

Alexander Motsenigos was headed north on Weston Road near Linden Street just before 2 p.m. on Aug. 24 when he was hit by the truck that was also headed north. He was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Motsenigos was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Motsenigos' family announced that they would file a wrongful death lawsuit in connection with his death.
