NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A 17-year-old girl was viciously assaulted in the Bronx for her iPhone.

The NYPD says it is looking for the man who followed the girl into a building on East 187th Street in the Belmont section of the borough at about 2:15 p.m. on January 24.

The victim was pushed against a wall before being dragged down a flight of stairs and punched repeatedly in the face, said police.

The attacker took off with her iPhone and headed westbound on East 187th Street.

The teen suffered bruising and cuts to her face.

Police describe the assailant as Hispanic, in his early 20s, 6'2" tall, thin build, light skin complexion with black hair in corn row braids.

The suspect was last seen wearing a burgundy coat with a fur-trimmed hood.
