Bruins goalie Tim Thomas has reportedly been traded to the New York Islanders.
The Boston Globe reported the trade at about 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Thomas announced last summer that he would sit out the 2012-2013 season to spend time with family. On Jan. 13, ESPN reported the Bruins decided to suspend Thomas. His salary, however, still counted against their salary cap.
It is currently unclear whether the trade means Thomas plans to come back this season, or if the Islanders are holding out hope for the future.
