Neighbors in the Midtown Atlanta community were startled Friday morning when a tree came crashing down onto two homes.
An arborist tells All News 106.7's Josh Caray that the roots finally gave way to a large oak tree that damaged the home of the property owner and his neighbor on Myrtle Street. He says the tree was apparently impacted by a large amount of rain the city has received so far this year.
Amy Houtchens, whose house was damaged by the neighboring tree, says she fears her car is totaled. She says she was just finishing yard work on her lawn when the tree came down.
It will take some time to remove the tree from the houses according to the arborist.
They will assess damages afterwards for insurance purposes.
