(MyFoxBoston.com) - Boston Mayor Tom Menino announced during a press conference on Sunday that city schools will be closed on Monday.
Mayor Menino reiterated that crews are working around the clock in order to make streets safe and passable. Most of the main arteries in Boston are in good shape, and now his number one priority is getting to Boston's side streets.
The city has obtained 40 additional pieces of equipment through the Mass. Emergency Management Agency, as well as private contractors.
In order to ensure the public's safety, the parking ban and the city's snow emergency remain in effect. Mayor Menino urged motorists to be mindful of pedestrians.
In addition to school closures, Mayor Menino asked private business owners to consider allowing their employees to work from home on Monday.
Mayor Menino asked for patience as the city works to recover from the fifth largest storm Boston has ever seen.
