Justice has been denied for the victim of Charles Parker. Once America's Most Wanted, Parker was caught last year and charged with an unspeakable crime from 30 years ago.
The 70-year-old man was finally about to face a judge for what he was accused of doing to his stepdaughter when she was 9 years old when he died. It was her courage that motivated law enforcement to hunt for Parker for nearly three decades.
Douglas County District Attorney David McDade spearheaded the manhunt. The Parker case appeared on America's Most Wanted, but only after Kim Lovell came forward to reveal herself as a victim of Parker's family terrorism. Kim and McDade now consider the case closed.
Lovell was 11 years old when she reported to a school counselor in Douglas County that Parker had been sexually abusing her for two years. After being on the run for over 29 years, the law finally caught up with Parker.
At a bond hearing last year, Lovell faced Parker for the first time since her childhood. She never got the justice she wanted, but her quest was not in vain. She said he knew she was ready to face him in a court of law and that she is experiencing an incredible freedom.
Parker died a few weeks ago due to complications from a fall in jail that left him paralyzed from the neck down.
