BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Some of the contractors hired to clear the snow from the blizzard gave thousands to Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino's campaigns, according to the Boston Herald.
Menino received more than $60,000 from executives, family members and employees of private companies that have won contracts to clear Boston's streets, the newspaper reported.
Records show that executives and employees of eight of the nine companies that won bids for snow removal have been Menino campaign contributors.
The report also says Joanne Massaro, the head of the Public Works Department, had no prior experience dealing with storms when she was hired three years ago.
Massaro's last job was as interim head of the Department of Neighborhood Development.
