Atlanta business owners are frustrated over a problem with renewing licenses online.
The city has asked people to use an online form to renew their business license, but owners say that form doesn't work.
"When I input the password and the information that was required and it was saying the account was locked and couldn't renew online," said Kristi Anderson.
The deadline to apply for a license renewal was Feb. 15. Those that didn't renew faced a fine of $500. The problem led to a long line of business owners at City Hall on Friday, hoping to avoid the penalty.
Those in line said the lines have been long all week.
"It's a joke. I have been trying for a month to renew my business and then I'm starting up a new business and the process is a joke," said Michael Morris. "Coming here, there is nothing but lines. It's ‘go to this floor, go to that floor, you have to get this notarized here.' Nothing is central."
Morris said that he wasted four hours in line.
"If I could send the mayor a bill, I sure would," Morris.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's office did not respond to a request for comment.
Officials said that the late penalty would be waived due to the problem. Business owners will be able to renew on Monday without paying the fine.
