NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Surveillance video shows a woman strolling into the Shell gas station at Newburgh and Five Mile on Sunday morning and buying two cartons of cigarettes with one credit card and two more with another.  The problem is the credit cards were stolen.  Even worse, police said it appears they were stolen at church.

"On Sunday during a church service apparently there was two purses that were stolen.  A complaint was made to the police department.  We have officers investigating it," explained Northville Township Public Safety Director John Werth.

He said it reportedly happened at Ward Presbyterian Church on Six Mile.  The service started at 11:00 a.m., but records show within a half hour one victim's credit card was used at a Mobil at Six Mile and Haggerty.  At 11:31 a.m., the suspect was buying cartons of cigarettes at the Shell station in Livonia.

At Ward, they told us they are reviewing their security procedures.  It is a very large church.  They are cooperating with police.

If you have any information, you are asked to contact Northville Township police.
