ATHENS, Ga. -

Athens police say they have a suspect who allegedly a 19-year-old Kennesaw State University student and kept going on Sunday morning, but he has not yet been arrested.  Emily Bowman remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after the weekend accident.

Police say Bowman was walking along Oak Street with friends in Athens when she was hit by a truck.  They say Bowman was in the grass and the truck went up over the curb, hitting her from behind.

Her father, Dale Bowman, told FOX 5 she had gone to Athens to celebrate a friend's birthday.  He said Monday that doctors are worried about potential brain swelling.

On Tuesday, Emily's uncle told FOX 5 her condition hasn't changed, but that's actually a good thing.  He said she remains in a coma at Athens Regional Hospital, but doctors believe her swelling is going down, and she looks better.  He said he is grateful she has lived another day.

Investigators told FOX 5 on Tuesday that they have a 22-year-old suspect who was allegedly driving the red truck that hit Bowman.  They have not released his name, but they say his attorney has reached out to them. An arrest warrant has not been issued yet.
