BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Ernie Boch, Jr. says he is interested in buying the Boston Globe.
The president and CEO of Boch Enterprises, Boch said the deal would also involve Bruce Mittman and Community Broadcasters.
Mittman is the president and CEO of Mittcom. Community Broadcasters is a radio station group in upstate N.Y.
The New York Times announced that they were looking for a buyer for the Globe earlier this week.
On Friday New York Times Co. vice-chairman Michael Golden joined Globe publisher Chris Mayer in a series of meetings with employees and the paper's 10 unions, according to the Boston Herald.
Another name mentioned as a possible buyer for the Globe was Wellesley businessman Aaron Kushner.
Kushner kicked the tires on a potential deal to buy the Globe in 2011. He spoke with Fox 25's sister-station in Los Angeles.
"There are a lot of businesses that are much easier and a lot less scary than newspapers," said Kushner. "But there are very few institutions that I think you can own and grow that matter more than newspapers."
Stephen Taylor, has also been mentioned as a possible buyer. His family sold the Globe to the Times in 1993.
Warren Buffett, who bought 60 newspapers in 2012, has also been named as a potential buyer.
