Prince William rescues hikers from treacherous mountain region

Posted: Updated:

Two hikers stranded in a mountainous region in North Wales received a royal rescue on Tuesday.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, Prince William flew a helicopter over the region known as Snowdonia to rescue two hikers, identified as being in their 40s and 50s.

The pair was hiking in Snowdonia when they were forced to camp out overnight due to treacherous conditions. A friend called for help after the pair did not contact them as they said they would.

Rescue teams found the hikers and called Prince William, who is a trained pilot for the RAF Search and Rescue Force.

William was able to fly in and take them to safety in his helicopter. Experts tell the Telegraph that flying in the mountains at night under such treacherous conditions requires great skill.
