FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - The trial of a man charged in connection with a shooting almost four years ago that took the life of a passenger in a car driving on a Massachusetts highway is getting started.
Jury selection is under way in Fall River Superior Court in the murder trial of 27-year-old Jose Fernandes of Taunton.
Prosecutors say Fernandes was one of three men in a car driving south on Route 24 in Freetown in May 2009 from which shots were fired that killed Troy Pina, one of four people in another moving car.
The Herald News (http://bit.ly/WmYzNB ) reports that previous testimony indicated the shooting may have been in retaliation for a shooting outside a Taunton bar in April 2009.
Fernandes has pleaded not guilty. The other two men are also charged with murder.
