Cape man accused of stealing 18,000 pain killers from Hyannis pharmacy

HYANNIS, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 25-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after police accused him of stealing nearly 18,000 pills from a Hyannis pharmacy.

Ronald Kimball Jr. is facing several charges that include breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, larceny in a building, trafficking oxycodone, possession with intent to distribute both Class B and C substances, and receiving stolen property over $250. He was placed on $25,000 bail at his Thursday morning arraignment.

Kimball's arrest comes as a result of a two-week investigation by Barnstable and Yarmouth detectives into a break-in at the Apothecare Pharmacy on West Main Street in Hyannis. During the Feb. 10 break-in, thieves took off with 18,000 pain killers such as Oxycodone and Oxycontin. Investigators place the street value of the narcotics at $500,000.

Kimball is also reportedly the prime suspect in thefts that occurred in Holliston, Mass. and Quechee, V.T.

Barnstable detectives executed search warrants on Wednesday at Kimball's home on Rosetta Lane in West Yarmouth, as well as a storage container on Hokum Rock Road in Dennis. During their search, police claim they found thousands of pills and a gold and diamond ring stolen during the Vermont theft.

Investigators expect Kimball and other suspects to face additional charges in the Holliston and Vermont thefts.
