WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A clothing company with offices in Worcester is coming under international fire for some controversial shirts they displayed for sale on Amazon.
The t-shirts, which appeared predominantly on Solid Gold Bomb's Amazon page in the United Kingdom, included slogans like "Keep Calm and Rape On" and "Keep Calm and Rape Them."
The shirts, inspired by the "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters created by the British government during World War II, have sparked outrage among social media users in the United Kingdom.
Solid Gold Bomb responded to the outcry on Friday night, saying that the shirts were "automatically generated using a scripted computer process running 100s of thousands of dictionary words."
The multi-national company, with printing and shipping offices in Worcester, also addressed apparent death threats they received as a result of the shirts.
"Needless to say, receiving death threats is certainly uncalled for as there was no intention of wrongdoing in any manner. We're sorry for the ill feeling this has caused! We're doing our best here to fix the problem," says the company in a press release.
Solid Gold Bomb apologized for the shirts and claim they were immediately deleted when they were notified of their existence.
