Case against Fujita expected to wrap up in next few days

Posted: Updated:

WOBURN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A former high school football player accused of killing his high school sweetheart could find out if he's going to prison this week.

The case against Nathaniel Fujita is expected to wrap up in the next few days and be put in the hands of the jury.

Prosecutors allege Fujita beat Lauren Astley, strangled her, slashed her throat, and then dumped her body in a Wayland marsh.

A psychiatrist for the defense testified Fujita had suffered repeated head trauma playing football.

Fujita's lawyer appears to be mounting an insanity defense, claiming he was so distraught over the breakup that he could not control himself.
