PHILADELPHIA -

There's more legal trouble for the day care operator charged in the drowning death of a 7-year-old boy, according to authorities.

Tianna Edwards, the former owner of "Tianna's Terrific Tots," was already facing involuntary manslaughter and other charges in the drowning death last June of Isear Jeffcoat.

The death occurred on the 6600 block of North 8th Street on June 29, 2012.

Last week, FOX 29 Investigates' Jeff Cole spoke exclusively with Jeffcoat's mother and filed this report.

Now, a grand jury has indicted Edwards on more felony charges.

According to a news release from the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Edwards faces the following counts:

  • Involuntary Manslaughter as a felony of the second degree;
  • 21 counts of Endangering the Welfare of Children as a felony of the third degree;
  • 21 counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person as a misdemeanor of the second degree;
  • Welfare Fraud as a felony of the third degree;
  • Theft by Deception as a felony of the third degree;
  • Medical Assistance Fraud as a felony of the third degree;
  • And Tampering with Public Records as a felony of the third degree.

Cole will have more details on these new developments in the case during live reports tonight on the FOX 29 News at 5 and 6.

    It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

    The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

    By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
