MILLBURY, Mass. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A Malden man was arrested Saturday night when state police said they struggled to subdue him after being pulled over on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Millbury for several vehicle infractions.

Barry Jean-Baptiste, 26, is charged with multiple offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm, which was found in the search of his car and possession with intent to distribute after finding an ounce of marijuana in the vehicle, as well. He was held in custody over weekend and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Worcester District Court.

According to authorities, Jean-Baptiste was hostile and aggressive when asked to show his license, which revealed a photo that did not match the suspect.  State police said they also found a small pocket knife on Jean-Baptiste.

As the vehicle was being searched, state police said Jean-Baptiste made a run for the busy highway, hoping to take the lives of both him and the authorities.

State Trooper Ryan Walczak was able to get assistance from responding troopers and able to finally take Jean-Baptiste into custody after nearly being struck by a tractor trailer.
