FAA: Pilot spots unmanned aircraft on descent to JFK

NEW YORK (MyFoxBoston.com) – A pilot on final approach to a runway at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City reportedly spotted a small, unmanned or remote-controlled aircraft Monday afternoon.

The pilot was attempting to land at Runway 31 Right around 1:15 p.m. on Monday when he spotted the aircraft approximately four to five miles southeast of the airport at an altitude of approximately 1,500 feet, reported the Federal Aviation Authority.

The pilot did not take evasive action and was able to land safely.

The FAA has launched an investigation into the pilot's claim.
