NEW YORK (AP) -- A man is being treated for injuries after falling down an open manhole in Greenwich Village.

It occurred around 7:45 p.m. Monday at West 3rd and Mercer streets.

Firefighters pulled the victim out and transported him to a hospital, where he was being treated for injuries to his arms and legs.

Witnesses reportedly said that the man apparently went around orange cones set up by a Con Edison crew working in the manhole.
