BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A parole hearing for a man convicted of kidnapping and killing a 10-year-old boy 15 years ago will be delayed.
Charles Jaynes was convicted of abducting and murdering Jeffrey in 1997, sodomizing his body in a New Hampshire apartment, putting the boy's body in a container and dumping it in a Maine river.
Jaynes was supposed to go before the parole board on March 19, but that hearing has been delayed because of another court date – for Jaynes' name change.
Jaynes' was initially denied a request to change his name to be more in line with his Wiccan beliefs. He appealed that decision and a court hearing was set, also for March 19. The parole board has postponed its hearing.
More than 6,800 people have signed an online petition urging the parole board to keep Jaynes in Prison. (Click here to see petition.)
A new date for the parole hearing had not been set.
