DETROIT (WJBK) -

Two people in their late teens or early twenties were shot and wounded Wednesday night on Beniteau on the city's east side.

Detroit police officers looking for the shooter were conducting a foot search.

One victim was rushed to the hospital from Beniteau.  The other wounded male ran one block to the Motor City Marketplace on Mack Avenue.  He collapsed in the parking lot.

One of the victims was shot in the groin.  Both males were conscience and alert and in serious condition.  They told police they were walking down Beniteau when suddenly they heard gunfire and discovered they were both shot.

Police said it is possible the two victims knew the shooter and were involved in a dispute with that individual earlier in the day.

So far, neighbors have not been able to provide any eyewitness accounts.

A third male was also walking with the victims.  He was not wounded.

If you have any information about this shooting, you are asked to call Detroit police.
