The Obama administration, hell bent on scaring the living daylights out of everyone over the sequester budget cuts, has gotten so desperate that it's playing a card that no one anticipated.
Apparently not content to simply announce that the world, as we know it will soon end, now they are suggesting the Navy's Blue Angels may miss the annual Cherry Festival…not this year but next!
You got it. The defense department warns that the fly boys, who are a tremendous draw, are already canceling several shows in the near term but just to get the attention of the good folks in Traverse City, it warns that could stretch all the way into July of 2014.
Egad's this is getting serious.
How silly.
The Traverse City Record Eagle breathlessly reporting all this, does quote the festival director who apparently has not hit the ejection button just yet.
"It is our understanding that no final decisions have been made to modify the U.S. Navy Blue Angel schedule for 2014."
No, really.
"We will continue to prepare for their arrival," he goes on trying to calm the waters of the West Bay which is the stage over which the Blue's fly around.
Good grief. This is so ludicrous it makes you laugh.
The Obama administration is doing what every modern governor in Michigan has done for the last forty years. When you are warning everyone that budget cuts are coming, you immediately trot out the most visible cuts you can find.
Former governors, except this one, would issue terrifying statements about slashes to the state police, schools, and when all else failed they would roll out, "prisoners could be released."
The president's Justice Department just said the same thing.
Of course none of that really happened which is way they call it a scare tactic.
But now the fear of losing the Blue Angels.
Guess the world as we know it, is coming to and end. And betcha the President blames the Republicans for causing it.

For obvious reasons nobody in the capitol press corps would ever admit this publicly. But if you applied a little truth serum, some would begrudgingly concede that Gov. Rick Snyder is a master at staying on message.
