CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — A Cambridge woman says her 5-year-old son is afraid to ride the bus to school after he was left alone cold and hungry on a locked bus last week.
Tara Dendy says arrived at her son Reign's after-school program at about 5:45 p.m. last Thursday and was told he never arrived.
Dendy called police and Reign was found on the locked bus. He had been there about three hours.
Eastern Bus Co., a Somerville company contracted by the Cambridge School system, says the driver has been placed on unpaid leave during an investigation and faces possible termination.
The driver is supposed to check the bus for children before getting off.
Cambridge Public Schools Chief Operating Officer Jim Maloney said called the situation "totally unacceptable."
