Firm eyes Worcester for Mass. slots parlor

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (AP) - One of four companies seeking a slots parlor license in Massachusetts has settled on Worcester as the location for its proposed facility.

Mass Gaming & Entertainment, an affiliate of Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming, said Wednesday it told the Massachusetts Gaming Commission it intends to pursue a Worcester slots parlor.

The company met a June 15 deadline for submitting preliminary applications to the commission, but had been under pressure to disclose where it intended to build.

The state's 2011 gambling law allows for one slots parlor in Massachusetts and three regional resort casinos.

The commission is still awaiting a decision from PPE Casino Resorts on where it hopes to develop a slots parlor.

The two other bidders for the slots parlor are the Plainridge harness race track in Plainville and the former Raynham dog racing track.
