An ESPN report said that Jackson voided his contract with the St. Louis Rams on Thursday, which made him an unrestricted free agent. He agreed to a 3-year, $12 million deal, according to the Associated Press.
Jackson, 29, has rushed for 1,000 yards in eight straight seasons. The three-time Pro Bowler is the only active running back in the NFL with more than 10,000 career rushing yards. He set career highs with 1,528 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns with St. Louis in 2006, the Associated Press reported.
Jackson tweeted, "To the AMAZING Atlanta Falcons Owner, GM & Management team, I SINCERELY THANK EACH OF YOU for making this happen. I EAGERLY anticipate 2013!"
