DELMAR, Del. -
Two men believed to be responsible for half a dozen burglaries in Delaware were arrested Tuesday after an officer caught them during a traffic stop, police said.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a man living on Deer Road in Delmar heard loud noises coming from the back of his home, police said. When he went to investigate, he found a man standing inside his doorway who quickly turned and ran to a white car parked in the driveway and left the scene.
Police said the resident was able to get the license plate number of the vehicle and called 911 to relay the information.
Police said that around 4:20 p.m. that day, an officer stopped the suspect vehicle and took two men, Kenneth E. Williams and Matthew R. King Jr., into custody without any struggle.
Williams and King are linked to at least six burglaries in Laurel and Delmar. Police said they forcibly entered homes and businesses to take cash, tools, jewelry, and some firearms, then sold the items to local pawn shops.
The men are now in Sussex Correctional Center on charges of theft, conspiracy, and burglary.
