Pope Francis' call first thought to be prank

Posted: Updated:

(MyFoxBoston.com) – Pope Francis tried to make a phone call, but the receptionist on the other end thought it was a prank.

The Daily Mail reports the pontiff called a Vatican receptionist directly, but the man didn't believe it was really the pope and said "oh, yes? And I'm Napoleon."

Pope Francis then assured the man he was in fact the new head of the Roman Catholic Church and asked to speak to a general of his old Jesuit order. At that point, the receptionist realized he was really speaking to the pope and paged him through.

The pope does not normally make his own calls, a Vatican expert explained to The Daily Mail.
