CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The Chicago French Market outpost of a popular Bucktown neighborhood barbecue restaurant that was badly damaged in a fire a week ago reopened on Friday.

Lillie's Q chef/owner Charlie McKenna reopened his French Market location at Union Station "with an extremely limited menu" a week after his Bucktown location suffered significant fire damage, a statement from the restaurant said.

Shortly after all employees at the Lillie's Q at 1856 W. North Ave. left work for the evening on March 14, a fire broke out in the basement of the restaurant. Police said the fire was reported at 11:40 p.m.

Chicago Fire Department officials told the restaurant's owner that the fire started after the water heater in the basement caught on fire.

The fire caused significant damage to the basement, the main floor and apartments upstairs from the restaurant, the release said.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries, but nobody else was injured.

Since all the food for the French Market outpost was prepared at the Bucktown restaurant, the fire forced the it to shut down as well. For the time-being, food will be prepped at Ovie Bar & Grill in the Metra Transportation Center.

The Lillie's Q French Market location will serve a limited menu for some time, and will close each day when all its food is sold.

The Lillie's Q Bucktown location remains closed but hopes to re-open, the statement said.
